Girls’ Trip to California

The girls were going out of their minds with everything closed and canceled, so we decided to send them down to visit Grandma, Grandpa, Austin and Alyssa.

They first week they were there, they enjoyed being around the house and doing things locally.  The second week they went on a vacation to a beach house in Carpinteria.  They had a blast!  Carpinteria is such a fun place to vacation.

While the girls were gone for 2 weeks, Tom and I went to Whidbey Island for 3 days and then enjoyed being home in a quiet house for the rest of the time.

Quiet Trip to Whidbey Island

The girls have been visiting Mom and Dad in CA for 2 weeks. Tom and I have been enjoying a quiet home and have been able to spend a lot of time together. We’ve done a few projects around the house and watched a bunch of Marvel movies together!

This past weekend, we had booked a 3 bedroom house in Langley and had planned to spend the weekend on Whidbey Island as a family. Since the girls were gone, the trip ended up just being Tom and I. Because of that, we were able to explore the island a little differently and found a few fun new places! We had such a wonderful time together!

I think the most interesting thing that we realized on this trip, is that on the island, there are so many different types of terrain. The houses and feel of one area change as you drive to a different area. That made exploring so much fun. We had placed pinned on goggle maps to go to, but often we saw something interesting and turned off and explored more.

25th Anniversary

It’s not how we planned to celebrate our 25th anniversary, but it was still lovely. The girls are down in CA with grandparents, so we have the house to ourselves for 2 weeks. 🙂 On our actual anniversary, we went out to the Lake Wilderness Arboretum and walked around there in the morning. We had a relaxing day around the house. Then we went to the Salish Lodge and had dinner at The Dining Room. We also watched our wedding video in the evening. 🙂

Staycation in July

We had planned to go to Weanatchee, Leavenworth and Cashmere for the 4th of July weekend, but with the COVID counts rising, especially in that area, and my back pain, we decided to do a staycation and do some fun things in the area instead. It was a great weekend and I’m so glad we changed plans!

We went to Sunbreak Cafe in Auburn for breakfast on Friday morning and then headed to Dash Point State Park for low tide. There were so many people there digging for clams. We have needs seen it so crowded. Of course, because the tide was so low we could be far away from people still, which was nice. We had fun exploring.

Coronavirus Week 14 (June 15 – 21)

We have finally been moved to phase 2 and we are getting out and seeing people and doing more things so I think this will be my last Coronavirus post! Hooray!

This is the last photo of the birds that I got. They have left the nest. I am so sad to see them go. What a joy it was to watch them grow!
My monthly trip to the infusion center….fun…
Ashley got some graphic novels in the mail from her teacher, Mrs. Long!
Cookie Dough from the food truck down by the lake one day 🙂 It was so good, but SO SWEET!!
Tom and Sage making pasta with the pasta maker we got Tom for Father’s Day

Coronavirus Week 13 (June 8-14)

Last month, my friend Linda gave us a beautiful hanging flower pot. Little did she know that a bird would choose to build a nest in it and we would get to enjoying seeing 4 baby birds grow. None of us have ever seen that before and it has been so much fun to watch! They are growing so fast and the parents are going crazy bringing them food constantly. Tom has enjoyed watching it from his desk in the front room as he works!

I had surgery this week to put cement in my back and spend the weekend recovering from that. The birds are much more fun to look at though, so I’ll just post pictures of them. 🙂

The girls and I also got out to IKEA one day. It was pretty hard for me and I had to sit down while the girls finished up, but I did it and it was nice to be out of the house. It was the first store Molly, Ashley and I have been in since March. Sage has been to Fred Meyer with Tom a few times.
