We had planned to go to Weanatchee, Leavenworth and Cashmere for the 4th of July weekend, but with the COVID counts rising, especially in that area, and my back pain, we decided to do a staycation and do some fun things in the area instead. It was a great weekend and I’m so glad we changed plans!

We went to Sunbreak Cafe in Auburn for breakfast on Friday morning and then headed to Dash Point State Park for low tide. There were so many people there digging for clams. We have needs seen it so crowded. Of course, because the tide was so low we could be far away from people still, which was nice. We had fun exploring.

Dash Point was gloomy and breezy, but we actually couldn’t think of a time we had been there when it was sunny! Tom carried a chair for me the entire time in case I needed it. He takes such good care of me!
This is looking back at the shore from the water. The tide was really low!

On the 4th of July, we had a relaxing day around the house. The girls hung out with friends for a bit. In the evening, we got dressed up (out of shorts and/or pjs), put makeup and shoes on 🙂 and headed up to Seattle for dinner. We had part of a gift certificate left for the Four Seasons, so we decided to go there for dinner. The food was really good and it was fun to watch the girls try Octopus (which was nothing like I thought it would be – not too bad) and oysters. All of our meals were delicious and of course we tried a little bit of everyone’s entree.

All dressed up and ready to go! I love silly car selfies!
It was a beautiful evening in Seattle. We stayed in the calm part of town. It was strange seeing it so deserted. On a normal July 4th, we would never even think of going downtown because it would be so crowded! It was kind of eerie driving and seeing no one on the streets. It’s so sad. 🙁
The girls definitely have a closer relationship since we were stuck in the house for 3 months together. They had fun taking selfies on the way home. We ended the evening grabbing cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory on the way home.
