This year, the middle schools had a new after school drama director, choreographer and dance coach. Sage’s experience in Shrek last year was wonderful and she was excited to be in another school musical. They chose The Wizard of Oz and she was cast as an Ozian and also in the Optimistic Chorus (a quartet of 4 girls).
After all the practices and performances, she really enjoyed the singing and dancing, but REALLY loved the costumes, hair and makeup. This year, they helped make their costumes and were allowed to do their own hair and makeup if they were able to. She jumped right in and helped with hair and makeup after she was ready and loved it. We already talked to the director about the possibility of her helping with costumes, hair and makeup next year (as well as singing).
We have a lot of pictures, thanks to a wonderful mom who took them during a few dress rehearsals!
All of their head shots were amazing! Sage was so happy that 2 of her good friends were also in the musical. (And we carpooled most rehearsals, which was wonderful!!)

Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My!
All of the Ozians wore green dresses and Mrs. Perez, the costume designer, did a fabulous job of picking dressing that made each girl look stunning! Sage loved hers!
While all the actors did a great job, I think we all agreed that the Scarecrow and Lion were our favorites.
Then there was the witch…she was great as well. So maybe we don’t have a favorite. 🙂
