LWES 12th man

Picture taken on Friday at Sage and Molly’s School. If you can find them among the 1,100 students, let me know.

So what does Super Bowl Sunday look like at our house?  Not much.  Tom is working and this is one day full of social gatherings that I do not mind missing out on as a family.  For the first time EVER, I actually have the game on (GASP!!), only because the Seahawks are playing and I feel like I would be betraying my friends and local family if I didn’t.

My Facebook newsfeed is full of friends and their Seahawks attire and fun green and blue snacks.  But here, we are all still in our jammies (only because one of the girls is sick) and have boring snacks and dinner.  I  popped some popcorn when the game started and since then have been attempting to answer questions about a game I really know nothing about, except what I learned in high school PE.

It probably would have been more fun if I planned ahead and made snacks or at least had Skittles . . . or just headed up to the restaurant and hung out there with the 12 people in the bar and 8 reservations on the books. (I guess not many people think fine dining on Super Bowl Sunday, even if there are free snacks in the bar and green skittle infused vodka.)

Molly and Ashley lost interest pretty quick but, here are a few of the things you would have heard if you had been a fly on our wall during the game:

  • Why are there all these previews? (commercials – can you tell we don’t watch live TV very often?) — Sage
  • How many points do you need to win? — Sage
  • How many hours has it been? (only half way through the second quarter) — Molly
  • I am going to go play football. I just need someone to tackle. — Molly
  • (During the half time show) I like the game better than this, but at least we can turn the volume down here. — Sage

Still laughing at some of those as I sit here and write this . . . but at least now they can say they have seen a football game on TV.

I am pleased to say, Sage and I made it through the entire game and are very happy for the Seahawks and our friends who are obsessed with them!  Tom was able to leave early and joined us for pizza and to watch the 4th quarter (and to answer some of the earlier questions I was not able to answer.)
