I can’t believe it’s already New Year’s Eve – aka Sage’s favorite day of the year (because she eats a bunch of yummy food, watches movies and gets to stay up really late). We had a few playdates during the day and then enjoyed our usual tradition of appetizers and caramel fondu for dinner/snacks.
This year we did a few different things besides just watching movies all night. I printed out some Year in Review type papers for the girls to fill out. It was fun to see thier responses and VERY fun to see how well Molly could do writing her own answers. I am so proud of how much she has learned in just the first few months of Kindergarten!!
Then the girls each picked a few items to put in a time capsule that will help them remember the things they liked or enjoyed during 2013. We’ll put it up with our Christmas/New Year’s decorations in the attic and will open it next New Year’s Eve.
I also found some very fun New Year’s Eve props so we did our own little photo shoot. It was so much fun! We have to do this every year! Tom got home shortly after we finished (around 7 pm!!!!) so he joined us for a couple pictures too.
Next we ate a little more food, and Tom laid down to rest (since he’d been up since 4 am) and the girls and I headed over to the Myer’s house for their annual New Year’s Eve party. We stayed for a couple hours and then headed back home to watch a movie and of course, eat more food. Ashley made it until 10 pm, Molly until 11 pm and Sage until we told her to go to bed at 12:20 am. Even though Tom was exhausted and tired, I am so glad he was working the opening shift both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day so he wasn’t out on the road after midnight!!
