The title says it all . . .
Waiting . . .
So no cute plane or fire truck to sit in for the 3rd child’s first hair cut. I opted for a great hair cut instead of a toy to sit on with a bad hair cut. She was so excited and acted so grown up. Another last of “firsts” for our kids.
I haven’t had much time to blog lately, but summer is almost over, so I’ve decided to condense the last 2 months into one blog post with pictures and captions . . .
Tom’s parents and the kids vacationed up here for a few weeks again and we stayed with them at a house on Lake Morton. The weather was horrible (or shall I just say normal Washington weather), but we were able to get out on the lake at least a few days and take some day trips to nearby places. It was fun to spend time with them, even if the weather was horrible.

On July 30th, the girls were flower girls in Emily and Andrew Knect’s wedding. They were adorable and had so much fun sharing in their special day!
The day after Eimly and Andrew’s wedding, my friend Sarah from college visited us for a couple days. We picked her up at the Amtrak station on Sunday and gave her the quick tour of downtown Seattle.
That was July . . . Then at 4 a.m. on August 1st, I woke up to realize Tom had not gotten home from work yet. He had fallen asleep on the way home from work and ended up fracturing his back. It hasn’t been an easy month, but are so grateful for God’s protection and that he wasn’t hurt any worse than he was. He is in a brace for at least 1 1/2 more weeks and then has a long road of rehabilitation ahead of him. His work has been wonderful and has given him some projects to do at home while he is resting and recovering.
This is the brace he is in all the time, except when he’s laying down flat on the bed. He heads back to the Dr. on September 8th to have another x-ray to see if it’s healed and he can take the brace off.
August 1st was also Ashley’s 2nd birthday. We celebrated as much as we could that day and then had a family party a few weeks later.

My Dad came up to visit for a few weeks. It was so much fun to see him and the girls loved spending time with Papa. We were around the house most of the time, as I wasn’t comfortable leaving Tom for long yet, so we don’t have many pictures.
My Dad had made a bunch of toys for the girls and one day, they had a few friends over to paint some cute animals that he had made. 🙂
In August, we also enjoyed swimming in the lake, story time in the park, and also music in the park. Now, school is about a week and a half away and Sage is so excited!
While it took a few days for the weather to cooperate, summer seems to have arrived up here in the pacific northwest. I decided to do a letter a day (or most days) just to keep things from getting boring this summer. So last Saturday we started the ABC’s of summer. Here are a few pictures from our first week . . .
Apple prints with our neighbor Addisyn
Bubbles (Her container was empty, but she still had fun!)
Tea party – nothing to do with a letter of the day, but the girls each invited 3 friends over (and siblings) and we had a tea party to start off the summer.
Making doughnuts
Frankfurters, French fries and the fire (and grilled veggies too)
Sage enjoyed her last day of Kindergarten a few weeks ago. They had an open house in the classroom, so we were able to go in and enjoy the end of the year party with her. Mrs. Dean put together a wonderful book of their work from throughout the whole year. It was so neat to see how she has grown over 9 short months. And what a wonderful keepsake!
After school, we went to a graduation party down at the clubhouse/lake and she had so much fun playing with friends. I can’t believe we now have a first grader!
She was so proud of all her work
Enjoying her memory book in the classroom
Cute graduation hats made by Mrs. Dolby, a mom of her friend Jack
A few weeks ago was Maple Valley Days here in our cute little town. The girls and I headed off on Saturday morning to meet some of Sage’s friends from school to watch the parade. It was fun to see the kids playing around and watching the parade together. She has made some really nice little friends in Kindergarten.
Molly, (a little girl who’s name I can’t remember), Shanthi, Makenna, Evyn, Jack and Ben
Then on Sunday after church and of course a nap, we headed down to Lake Wilderness park to spend the national debt on carnival rides. The girls loved them (except Ashley who only liked her first ride for about 30 seconds). Then we looked around at the booths and enjoyed some cotton candy. It was a fun day for our family!

At first Ashley would not try the cotton candy. Molly finally got her to try it of course she loved it.
Bath time? At least she enjoyed it!
