Another last minute trip (We seem to be getting good at those) but this time we headed down to Portland for the night.
We stayed at the Red Lion on Jantzen Beach and enjoyed a lot of time in the pool and spa. It was a bit chilly out, but the both were heated, so it didn’t matter.
Breakfast was included with our hotel room (amazing deal) and we had a nice meal overlooking the river.
Sage has been part of the 4th and 5th grade honor choir this school year. They practiced every Friday morning before school and has several concerts throughout the year.
Their final concert was at the Middle School auditorium. Sage sang in both the choir and in a trio. 🙂
I can’t believe the time has come . . . the time to talk with our oldest about growing up and how our bodies change as we grow and develop.
A few weeks ago, I met with my friend Tykee from church and she shared with me some of the special things she did with her daughter around this age. I took some of those and a few that Tom and I had and planned a very special afternoon for just Sage and I.
Below is what I did . . . written out mostly so that I remember for the next 2. 🙂
Tom took the girls out to the library for about a half hour while I set up our tea party.
Tom dropped Sage off and took the other two girls out for a couple hours.
Molly has been wanting to take gymnastics classes for a while now. We signed her up for classes at Summit Gymnastics and she loved it. She did two sessions and then we took a break to start swim lessons. She learned so much in such a short period of time!
We’re so proud of the hard work the girls put in to learning all their verses for AWANA this year. Molly and Ashley both finished up their books mid way through the year and started working on their review books. Sage got 3/4 of the way through her book and will be finishing it over the summer so she is ready to start a new book in the fall!
(Pictures never turn out inside the church, but it’s better than nothing I guess!)
This is one of my favorite field trips. Seahurst Park at low tide is full of amazing things to see. We had some guides that taught us about the ocean and marine life and then we got to explore the tide pools in groups. The kids made lots of discoveries and I was so impressed with what they had learned in class before the trip.
Inside the classroom at the beach learning how everything works together and affects each other.
