Palm Springs Get-a-way with College Friends

Every two years, my friends from college and I get together for a long weekend in August. It’s such a wonderful time to catch up and relax, and not have to worry about taking care or kids or working. This summer we rented a house in La Quinta, near Palm Springs. It was beautiful and perfect for our time away!

Happy Birthday Ashley

It’s hard to believe that Ashley is one today!  The year went by so fast.  She is such a happy little girl and we have had a great year.  Here are a few picture from our day.  (Birthday party pictures will be posted soon!)

Vacation – part 1

We are in the middle of sharing Tom’s parents vacation with them up here on Lake Morton.  Then rented a house on the lake for 2 weeks and have graciously allowed us to stay with them.  5 of the 6 kids are in the bunk house (and suprisingly sleeping pretty well).  It’s like a big slumber party every night!  We LOVE spending the late afternoon and evening out by the lake and have been having so much fun fishing, kayaking, canoeing and swimming.  Oh, and eating smores.  🙂  Here are a few pictures, including a few from Ashley’s first birthday party that we had here last Wednesday.  I’ll post more pictures when I get them off of Mom and Dad’s camera.

Mt. Rainier

On Saturday we headed out to Mt. Rainier . . . without the camera.  It ended up being a horrible experience and we were ready to trade the kids in (not really, but if you’re a parent, you can just visualize in your head what the day was like without me saying anything more.  Yes, it was that bad!)

On a positive note, Mt. Rainier is so beautiful.  There were waterfalls everywhere that were just gorgeous!  It was super crowded as it was the first “summer” Saturday we have had.  At one point, we were high enough up to throw a few snowballs, which was the highlight of the day for Sage and Molly.  Maybe next time (if there is one), we’ll take some pictures . . .

4th of July

For the 4th of July, we went over to a friend’s house for a BBQ.  We were introduced to a few new games that we loved and were able to do a few fireworks.  (As well as watch the millions going off at the houses around us.)  Then at about 10:10, we watched the fireworks over Lake Meridian.  It was so nice being at someones house so we could put Ashley down to sleep since it stays light here so late!
