Easter 2011
Sorry in advance for the long post . . .
The day before Easter, Sage had another T-Ball game and there was an Easter Egg “Hunt” at the same park, so we thought we’d let the girls do that and then head over to the game. It was not exactly a hunt, but rather a ton of eggs on the ground, roped off for different age levels. Tom took Sage to her section and I stayed with the little ones. When the siren went off, they gathered their eggs. The two younger girls seemed very excited about it and didn’t seem to mind how crowded it was or that the eggs were just laying on the ground. Sage asked why they didn’t hide them. Maybe we’ll skip the chaos next year . . .
And notice the dirt? In this HUGE park with green grass everywhere, the eggs were in dirt. Not sure who planned that one . . .
After Sage’s game, Tom headed off to work and the girls and I headed over to Chuck and Patti’s house to dye Easter Eggs with cousins. Ashley was a little young and I should have probably put her down for a nap instead of letting her “help”.” She really liked it and the counter around her came clean in the end.
Now on to Easter morning . . .
When the girls got up, we made resurrection rolls for breakfast. They are basically a biscuit with a marshmallow inside the melts and leaved a hole, representing the empty tomb. It kind of worked (probably because we used 4 mini marshmallows instead of one regular one – I’ll use large ones next time). But they were excited to eat them, open our last resurrection egg (plastic Easter eggs with a symbol and verse having to do with the Easter story) and listen to the resurrection story during breakfast.
I love the conversations we get to have with the girls during our morning devotion time at the breakfast table. They don’t always go as smoothly as I’d like them too, but we are trying! Sage asks so many good (and often hard to answer) questions. Of course she usually asks them when Tom is not there, but then that gives us more to talk about with him the next morning so he can help me answer them! Molly is slowly starting to understand things, at least I thought so. After church on Sunday when I asked her why Jesus died on the cross, she said, “Because He made a bad choice.” Oops. I guess we’ll have to keep talking about that one. Ashley just smiles and loves to look at the pictures in our Bible Story book and sings and bounces in her booster seat when we sing. We had a wonderful time of singing the other morning with Tom playing the piano. It was great to be able to sing worship songs together as a family.
We had some Easter music on while we were getting ready for church (which made me miss singing with our So. CA friends!) Then the girls and I headed off to church to meet Tom who was there early because he was playing the piano for some special music.
After church we had lunch, gave the girls their Easter baskets, had an egg hunt, rested and enjoyed a yummy meal while watching the movie Tangled. We had some video of the rest of our day, but the video camera decided to delete the files when I plugged it in to charge. Nice. It was a fun, relaxing day, or at least as relaxing as things can be with 3 kids.
