Goodbye Coffee :-(

Saying goodbye to coffee in the morning and mid afternoon is hard!!

About 4 months ago I started having severe pains in my breasts and under my right arm.  (I even took a few pregnancy tests which came back negative (thank goodness.))  After blood tests, a mammogram, 2 exams and an ultrasound, I am happy to report that I am very healthy.  It’s always nice to pay a bunch of money to find out you are fine.

Unfortunately, caffeine seems to trigger the pain, which means no coffee in the morning for me (even decaf.)  An occasional cup doesn’t seem to bother me much and I don’t eat a ton of chocolate, but my 2-3 cups of coffee a day habit is now gone.  🙁

I feel so much better and my stomach no longer bothers me each morning.  My new love is a naturally organic decaf chai tea latte.  I probably should have tried to enjoy something a little less expensive and with less sugar and calories . . . oh well.  Anyone have any great tea suggestions?

Summer Events at the Library

One of the things that I love about living up here is the King County Library system.  I love that our library looks like it is in the middle of the forest.  Everyone is so helpful.  They have a great system for putting books on hold and offer so many e-books and audio books for us all to check out!  This summer the girls have gone to a few programs at the library to keep them busy!

Lego Building Program

I signed Sage up for this, but since not everyone showed up, Ashley and Molly were able to participate too!  It was so much fun!

19 years of Marriage

Today is our 19th wedding anniversary.  Since Tom was off the 3 days before, we celebrated early.  We took the kids over the the Myers house and we headed up to Rattlesnake Ledge for a hike.  I was a bit intimidated by the thought of the hike, but it wasn’t bad.  We did the 2 miles up without stopping in 55 minutes.  The view was AMAZING and totally worth it!

July Staycation

Tom has been off for the past 3 days so we were able to enjoy a lot of time together as a family.  We camped in the back yard, headed up to the Lynnwood area to escape the heat and spent time at the lake.  Ah, summer!!

Night 1 in the tent . . . we need more padding. We are getting old! Molly and Ashley are sleeping in there somewhere!

Surviving VBS

VBS ended tonight at church and it was a long week.  I was so excited for another year and thought it would be easier with the kids being older, but didn’t expect some bad asthma trouble for Ashley, so it was tough.

She was on my lap or glued to my side for at least part of the first 4 nights.  The last night, the asthma was gone and she did great and loved it!  She was so exhausted from not sleeping well at night that she fell asleep in my lap during the message one night.  Poor thing!  We finally got the medicine for the nebulizer and started a preventative inhaler to help prevent future attacks from coming on!
