Tom was off today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so we kept the kids home from school and headed up to Seattle for the day for our annual Seattle Christmas Trip. We headed out the door early to take the Sounder instead of the car.
We started off at Pike’s. It was deserted, so of course we took advantage of that and took a picture with the pig!
We headed over to Macy’s to spend some one-on-one time with Santa and his reindeer. Each year we do this we are by ourselves for at least 10 minutes with Santa! The girls love it! I love doing this trip in the middle of the week!! Nothing is crowded!!
Next we headed over to the Westlake Center and took the Monorail up to the Seattle Center where we enjoyed the Winterfest town and train setup. Sage took a video on the monorail (8x the speed) for fun.
We walked down to Olympic Sculputre park, which we had never been to. Not sure that I care to go back, but we at least we can say we’ve seen it.
Next, back to the Monorail and over to the carousel and giant snow globe.
We ate lunch at Palamino and then headed over to Pacific Place to look in a few stores.
Then off to see the Gingerbread Houses at the Sheraton. We loved the Nursery Rhyme theme this year and are always amazed at how much work is put into this display. Again, no line, and now crowd, just us and a few others walking through and chatting with the manager.
Our last stop before heading back to the train was the Teddy Bear Suite at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel. The room was so bright and beautiful this year. Must less cluttered than in the past. Great way to end our time up in Seattle.
Then a 15 minute walk in the 38 degree weather (it was COLD today) back to the train. It’s 9 pm and everyone is asleep. What a great day full of wonderful memories as a family!
