This has been an interesting week, to say the least. School has been canceled for 4 days and we have been stuck at home! It started off with beautiful snow and lots of fun getting bundled up and playing outside.

Yesterday, the snow turned to ice and freezing rain, making trees and tree branches start to fall everywhere! Today it is raining and the snow and ice are starting to melt, but it’s a mess everywhere.
I have never seen ice form around a tree branch. It was beautiful, but it got much thicker than this as the day went on.
Besides some branches in our back yard, this was our only casualty (at least so far.)
Many people are without power and probably will be for a bit as they get things fixed. We have been fortunate to still have power and have been burning through lots of wood in our wood burning stove to stay warm.
Tom has gotten out a few times to the gym in Covington, just a few miles away and said the roads are horrible. He was hoping to work from a Starbucks yesterday and today since it wasn’t possible to drive into work, but it was insane as many people without power were there with their power strips and electronics tying to get them charged. So, he has been home a lot (which has been wonderful). He’s on his way to Tacoma to work as I type this. He left about an hour ago and is still not there. Freeways are closed, power lines and trees are down all over the place. He’s going really slow, but will get there eventually. I can’t imagine many people are eating out today . . .
