Last night was Celebration of Learning at Sage’s school (or what I would call Open House). It’s so fun to be on the parent side of an event like this, instead of being the teacher getting everything ready. I just got to show up and enjoy it and give Sage lots of hugs and tell her how proud I was of her. (And as a teacher, I have to say the room looked amazing!!! There were so many great pieces of student work everywhere. Mrs. Dean put in lots of time to get everything ready and it looked great!!)
There was a brief time (25 minutes) to see her classroom and many of the projects she has completed over the school year. Then the kindergarten did a musical performance for the families. Her classroom was full of so many things they had worked on and she was so proud to show us around (in the midst of the 100 other people in the room at the same time). It was crazy, but so much fun to see her in her room. It was also fun to see some of her friends and a few of our neighbors too.
Here are a few pictures of our evening:
After many days of seeing Sage get on the bus, we got to get on with her and ride to school. There is not much parking at the school, so they had a shuttle set up from the QFC parking lot down the street. Molly and Ashley were very excited!
Tadpoles – very exciting!
A letter to the Earth on Earth Day
(Dear Earth, I will recycle for you. I will save water. I will clean for (you). From, Sage)
Showing us her seat (which is now near her friend Shanthi and she is very excited!!)
Both AM and PM kindergarteners and their parents and siblings in the classroom during the short 25 minutes it was open. . . The room was so crowded you could hardly move! (But we still loved it!)
Small moment story written every month – this was my favorite part of the room because we could see how much she has grown as a writer throughout the year. The previous months’ stories were paper clipped behind the current month’s story.
Each month they do a self portrait. Sage was very excited about this month’s tear art portrait. Notice the pink bow?
Showing us the plant she is growing in class
Reading her writing journal to Tom
Molly checking out the listening center
A view across the room
Sage with Aunt Patti (Sorry Uncle Chuck, I didn’t mean to cut you out of the picture.)
Kindergarten performance out on the lawn
Sage is toward the top middle wearing a black coat and a purple lei
Sage and her friend Addisyn from down the street
Showing us how she logs onto the computer in the lab each week
Ashley enjoying the bus seat to herself on the way home
Super fun! and super cute! I think I’m going to steal that self portrait every month thing, that’s a fun idea
